This is an accident involving a construction worker who fell into a fully water-filled kiln during work on the slope shaping at the excavation site while performing the 'Reiwa 4th Year Mamejima Runway and Related Facilities New Construction Work (Part 1)' contracted by the Kashima, Goyo, and Moritoku Construction Joint Enterprise, and died on October 18, Reiwa 6.

Kashima Corporation was involved in a worker accident on October 14, 2024, during the construction of the Gatehara No. 1 Tunnel (No. 41, Reiwa 4). At the time, reinforcement insertion work was being carried out on the upper slope of the tunnel entrance using a scaffoldless method. During the relocation of the excavation machine control panel with an electric winch and wire rope, the control panel became caught on a wire mesh. Attempts to resolve this by moving the wire rope caused it to contact and dislodge stones approximately 10-20 cm in diameter and weighing about 3 kg near the slope shoulder, resulting in falling rocks that injured a worker below.

On May 9, 2024, during shotcrete work on the tunnel excavation face of the Yamatogawa Dam temporary drainage tunnel project ordered by the Shikoku Regional Development Bureau, a worker from subcontractor Kyotaku Construction Co., Ltd. removed a gauge from the lower half of a steel support. As a result, parts of the steel support and shotcrete fell, injuring two workers. This incident demonstrates that safety management measures in this project were inadequate.
