本品は、発声時に声門が過剰に閉鎖することで声に障害の出る内転型痙攣性発声障害において、その閉鎖を防止する手術法（甲状軟骨形成術２型）で用いられるチタン製の蝶番型プレートである。京都大学・一色信彦名誉教授のシーズを元に、世界に先駆けて、複数の国内大学と共同でノーベルファーマ株式会社（東京都中央区）が開発・製品化したものである。
