On February 18, 2026, the Chubu Transportation Bureau performed a safety audit of Ikeda Town, Fukui Prefecture. The audit revealed that certain inspection items for the safety communication, safety, and electrical equipment of ropeway facilities were not carried out as specified in Article 5 of the Special Regulations for the Construction of Single-Track Fixed Circular Ropeways. The town was instructed to promptly conduct the necessary inspections and improve the maintenance management system to ensure proper inspections in accordance with the regulations. Additionally, it was confirmed that the New Ho Romance Lift ropeway facility was modified without following the procedures stipulated in Article 12 of the Railway Business Act, which is applied mutatis mutandis under Article 38 of the same Act. The town was instructed to promptly undertake the necessary procedures and implement measures to prevent recurrence of such issues. The town is required to report the corrective actions taken by April 30, 2026. This enforcement action was issued by the Chubu Transportation Bureau.
