Between July 22 and July 24, 2025, an administrative guidance was issued to Tsukuba Kanko Tetsudo Co., Ltd. following a safety audit. The audit revealed that certain periodic inspections under the Steel Rope Railway Technical Standards and the Ordinary Cableway Maintenance Rules were not properly conducted or recorded. Specific issues included the failure to perform inspections of track displacement 'height' and 'passage' as per the standards, incorrect assessment of track displacement exceeding maintenance standards, and inadequate evaluation of the safety of falling debris in tunnel inspections. Additionally, discrepancies were found between actual equipment and inspection records for the double-track cableway. The company is instructed to review and revise inspection procedures, ensure proper record management, and report corrective actions by January 30, 2026.
