The representative director of Suzuki Construction Co., Ltd. buried approximately 12.93 tons of concrete waste on the premises of Izumo Taisha Hakodate Church Chiba Sogo Kokukyo in Wakaba-ku, Chiba City, between late July and early August of Reiwa 1 (2019), without any statutory exemption. Based on this fact, the Chiba District Court sentenced the corporation to a fine of 5 million yen and the representative director to two years of imprisonment (with a three-year probation) on May 27, Reiwa 4 (2022), for violations of the Waste Management and Public Cleansing Law. It is recognized that this constitutes a violation under Article 28, Paragraph 1, Item 3, and Paragraph 3 of the same law.
