令和６年７月２２日、福島県双葉郡広野町大字下北迫二ツ沼５８番地に所在する広野火力発電所航路維持現しゅんせつ工事現場において、水深約５メートルの海底でボンベから給気を受けて行う潜水作業（スクーバ式潜水）を行っていた有限会社潜水さかもとの労働者が溺死するという災害が発生した。 当該しゅんせつ工事において、（有）潜水さかもと専務取締役は、当該作業を行わせるにあたり、浮力調整具又は救命胴衣を着用させず、また、水深計及び水中時計を携帯させていなかった。 このため、労働安全衛生法に違反したとして、令和７年４月２５日付けで（有）潜水さかもと及び同社専務取締役に対し、それぞれ２０万円の罰金刑が確定した。
