| Authority | Fukushima Prefecture |
|---|---|
| Law / type | Construction Business Act / Directive |
| Summary | On February 13, 2021, an employee of Sato Construction Co., Ltd. was engaged in block removal work at a construction site in Odaka-ku, Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture. During the work, a wire rope hook came off, striking the worker's right arm and causing a work-related injury requiring more than four days of leave. On March 2, 2021, the company's CEO and a manager conspired to falsely report this incident as an accident at a demolition site in Tacho, Odaka-ku, Minamisoma City, which was directly contracted by Sato Construction. They submitted a false report of a worker injury to the Soma Labor Standards Inspection Office. As a result, on December 15, 2023, the company and its representatives were each fined 200,000 yen for violating the Industrial Safety and Health Act. The prefectural authorities issued a directive requiring the company to implement measures to prevent recurrence, including internal training and strengthening supervision of safety practices, with a report due by March 1, 2024. |
