Between July 25 and July 27, 2023, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Tohoku Transport Bureau conducted a safety audit of Abukuma Kyuko Co., Ltd. (corporate number 8380001003238), headquartered in Date City, Fukushima Prefecture. The audit revealed several issues requiring corrective measures, including: 1. Failure to perform necessary repairs to the building clearance that obstructs platforms, contrary to Article 20 of the Railway Implementation Standards. The company is instructed to promptly undertake necessary repairs based on inspection results, review and improve internal education and training, establish an appropriate maintenance management system including budget allocation, and thoroughly investigate the causes of these issues to prevent future occurrences. The company must report the measures taken by February 16, 2024, and ensure that all safety and legal compliance standards are strictly followed in future railway infrastructure maintenance and management.
