On February 13-14, 2025, an safety audit was conducted on the Shiretoko Shari Town Tourism Association. The audit found that inspection records for the start-of-day checks and January inspections of a single-track fixed circular cableway system were incomplete. As a result, the association was instructed to take necessary measures to ensure inspection results are properly recorded and to establish a system for proper storage and management of inspection data. The association is required to report on the measures taken by April 10, 2025. This guidance was issued under the Technical Standards for Ropeway Facilities Ordinance by the Hokkaido Transport Bureau.

The audit revealed that inspection records for the start-of-day checks and January inspections of the single-line fixed circular special cable car system were incomplete or not properly stored, in violation of Article 4 and Article 8 of the Regulations for the Maintenance of Special Cable Car Facilities. The bureau instructed the association to take necessary measures to ensure proper recording and management of inspection results and to report the actions taken by April 10, 2025.
