On September 5, 2022, an employee of a secondary subcontractor fell from a slope and died during rope work at a construction site in Fukushimacho, Matsumae-gun, Hokkaido, where Monuma Iwasaki Construction Co., Ltd. was the primary contractor for slope work. The site was approximately 16.4 meters high with a 66-degree incline. Due to the risk of falling and the difficulty of establishing scaffolding because of the nature of the work, measures requiring the use of fall prevention devices with the necessary performance were necessary. The company and its officers and employees conducted the work without implementing these measures. As a result, they received a summary order for violations of the Industrial Safety and Health Act from Hakodate Summary Court on July 7, 2023, and the sentence was finalized. This is recognized as corresponding to Article 28, Paragraph 1, Item 3 of the Construction Business Act.
