On February 12, 2022, at a construction site in Hekikawa-cho, Hakui City, Ishikawa Prefecture, a worker was at risk of falling from the edge of a roof that was 3.3 meters high while performing re-roofing work using the first-floor roof as a work platform. Despite the ease of installing fall prevention measures such as handrails at the edge of the roof, such measures were not taken, and necessary safety precautions to prevent falls were omitted. Sugimoto Ware Industry Co., Ltd. and its sales employee were prosecuted on July 15, 2022. On October 28 of the same year, the Niigata Summary Court sentenced the corporation to a fine of 200,000 yen and the sales employee to a fine of 200,000 yen. This is recognized as corresponding to Article 28, Paragraph 1, Item 3 of the Construction Business Act.
