| Summary | On May 10, 2021, at around 21:00, the passenger vessel 'New Matsushima' operated by Saikai City, with 19 passengers onboard, entered Kamaura Port in Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture. During entry, the captain's health suddenly deteriorated, temporarily impairing vessel control, which led to contact with the breakwater. Three passengers sustained minor injuries. On June 11 and 18, 2021, the Kyushu Transport Bureau's operations and labor supervisors conducted audits based on the Marine Transportation Act. On March 1, 2022, Saikai City was instructed to deepen understanding of safety management regulations, including immediate reporting of accidents to maritime safety authorities and seeking advice on measures taken, in accordance with safety management rules. |
