Between January 27 and 28, 2026, a safety audit was conducted on Kusatsu Tourism Corporation. The audit found that training and education as stipulated in Article 6 of the Rules for Operating Single-Track Fixed Circular Ordinary Ropeways and Special Ropeway Operation Rules had not been fully implemented for some staff. Additionally, records of training outside rescue drills were not maintained, making it difficult to manage the status of education and training. The authority has instructed the company to properly manage the implementation of education and training and to establish a system ensuring all staff receive the necessary training. The company is required to report the measures taken by March 27, 2026. This guidance is issued by the Kanto Transport Bureau.
