| Summary | On August 1, 2025, the passenger ship 'THUNDER BIRD' operated by Shikoku Kisen Co., Ltd. carried 85 passengers, exceeding the maximum capacity of 80 as specified in the ship's inspection certificate, from Miyaura Port to Takamatsu Port. On August 22, 2025, an audit conducted by the Maritime Transport Bureau's Operations and Labor Supervisor found violations of the Marine Transportation Act and safety management regulations, including that the operations manager did not report the number of passengers onboard to the captain. On November 11, 2025, the Shikoku Transport Bureau issued an order to the operator, including a directive that the captain must not carry passengers or others beyond the maximum capacity, in accordance with Article 18 of the Ship Safety Act. |
