Tokita Construction Co., Ltd. was the prime contractor for the restoration and slope repair work (Restoration Slope Repair No. 3) ordered by the Tsugawa District Office of the Niigata Regional Development Bureau, on land within Nananacho, Aga Town, Higashikambara District, Niigata Prefecture. On July 28, 2023, an incident occurred in which a worker from the primary subcontractor died due to a vehicle overturning. The site supervisor from Tokita Construction, responsible for construction and safety management, did not assign a guide for vehicle guidance nor take necessary safety measures despite the risk of workers being endangered by the overturning of construction machinery during site leveling work. As a result, the corporation and the site supervisor were fined under the Industrial Safety and Health Act (corporation: 200,000 yen; site supervisor: 200,000 yen), with the penalties confirmed on April 26, 2024. This constitutes a violation of Article 28, Paragraph 1, Item 3 of the Construction Business Act.
