Violation
Makita Corporation, a manufacturer and seller of power tools with capital of 3 billion yen or less, was found to have engaged in conduct that unjustly harmed subcontractors' interests. Specifically, Makita lent molds it owned to subcontractors and, from at least January 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025, did not place orders for parts made using these molds over a long period. Despite this, Makita required subcontractors to store a total of 3,214 molds free of charge. The Fair Trade Commission conducted discussions with Makita, collected invoices, and determined that Makita paid a total of 26,165,689 yen by October 20, 2025, which is recognized as the cost of free mold storage. Consequently, the FTC issued a recommendation to Makita for this conduct.
