令和６年（２０２４年）５月２５日、熊本県宇城市松橋町古保山の工場内において、熊本鉄構株式会社の作業者がクレーン作業中、鋼材をつり上げようとして鋼材が倒れて同作業者が下敷きとなる災害が発生した。この件に関し、同社及び同社員（ラインリーダー）は、法定の資格を有していない作業者（被災者）に、つり上げ荷重が５トンを超えるクレーンの運転業務及び玉掛け業務を行わせたことで、熊本簡易裁判所から労働安全衛生法違反によりそれぞれ罰金２０万円の略式命令を受け、令和７年（２０２５年）６月６日、その刑が確定した。
