Violation
The Fair Trade Commission conducted an investigation into Toyota Customizing & Development Co., Ltd. and found violations of Article 4, Paragraph 1, Item 4 (prohibition of returns) and Item 3 of Paragraph 2 (prohibition of requesting unjust economic benefits) of the Subcontractors Law (the 'Subcontract Law'). The company engaged in subcontracting the manufacturing of exterior and interior automotive parts to companies with capital of 300 million yen or less. The violations included installing exterior and interior parts to modify vehicle appearance and functionality, and returning defective products to subcontractors. Since at least July 1, 2022, despite not placing long-term orders for products made with molds, the company improperly stored a total of 664 molds and parts without compensation, unfairly harming subcontractors' interests. Based on Articles 7, Paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Subcontract Law, the Fair Trade Commission issued a recommendation to the company on July 5, 2024.

トヨタカスタマイジング＆ディベロップメントは、資本金の額が３億円以下の法人たる事業者に対し、自社が販売する又は製造を請け負う自動車に架装する外装及び内装用の製品の製造を委託している。ア 自動車の外観変更や機能向上のための外装品や内装品を装着すること。イ 資本金の額が３億円以下の法人に対し、瑕疵があると理由で製品を引き取らせていた。遅くとも令和４年７月１日以降、当該金型等を用いて製造する製品の発注を長期間行わないにもかかわらず、下請事業者に対し、合計６６４個の金型等を無償で保管させることにより、下請事業者の利益を不当に害していた。
