In January of Reiwa 5 (2023), due to decreased sales and advertising revenue, and increased costs such as materials and transportation, KADOKAWA unilaterally reduced the unit price of orders to subcontractors from approximately 6.3% to approximately 39.4% without consultation, and applied this change. 株式会社ＫＡＤＯＫＡＷＡは、レタスクラブ事業において、個人又は資本金の額が５０００万円以下の法人たる事業者に対し、レタスクラブの記事作成及び写真撮影業務を委託している。令和５年１月、販売収入や広告収入の減少に伴い、資材費、輸送費等のコスト上昇を理由に、下請事業者に対し発注単価を一方的に約６．３％から約３９．４％引き下げる決定をし、協議なく適用した。
