令和８年７月27日、有限会社笠岡フェリーが運航する旅客船「第弐拾八大福丸」が笠岡市北木島付近を航行中、漁船と衝突する事故が発生した。同年７月27日及び８月５日、中国運輸局等の運航労務監理官が海上運送法に基づく検査を実施したところ、安全管理規程に違反する事実を確認した。同年10月15日、中国運輸局は同者に対して、「運航管理者は、安全管理規程第１８条第１項に基づき、船舶の運航の管理及び輸送の安全に関する業務全般を統括し、安全管理規程の遵守を確実にしてその実施を図ること。」を含む命令を行った。
