株式会社岩本技建が請け負った産山村発注の公共工事において、令和3年（2021年）12月14日、切り倒した木が跳ね上がって、同社の労働者の頭に当たり死亡する事故が発生した。この件に関し、チェーンソーを用いて行う立木の伐木業務につかせるに当たり、労働者に対してチェーンソーに関する知識及び伐木等の方法等に関する教育を行わず、もってチェーンソーによる立木の伐木業務に関する安全のための特別の教育を行わなかったとして、阿蘇簡易裁判所から労働安全衛生法違反により、同社及び同社代表取締役に対しそれぞれ罰金20万円の略式命令があり、令和5年（2023年）1月11日、その刑が確定した。
